For the second time in a week, Everett Police responded to the Casino Road area for a report of shots fired and a teen hit.

This time it happened in front of the Casino Lane apartments in the 800 block of Casino. Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com 9-1-1 began receiving calls of shots fired and possibly someone hit around 12:15 this afternoon.

Arriving officers located a teen who had been shot. He was treated by medics and transported to Providence Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. As a precaution, Horizon Elementary school, which is several blocks east of the scene, was put into a brief lock-down.

Immediately after the shooting a group of people were reported running from the scene. A K-9 was brought in but a track was not successful.

Major Crimes detectives from Everett Police were called to process the scene and interview witnesses. It appeared several shell casings were recovered along with other evidence. No word on the identity of the suspects.

Snell would not speculate if this shooting or the shooting of another teenager last Friday in front of the Bluffs apartments at 2 West Casino Road had any ties to gang activity in south Everett.
